Default Saffron Walden Crank Up 2015 (Part 3)

This time is the turn of the miniatures, apologies for any I missed.

The red Foden also sported a very nice bus body, but by the time I was taking photo's it had shed it to just a flat bed.

Puffing Billy was the original Band Bus. 'Billy' referring to William Foden, son of the founder. The current Puffing Billy (Not the miniature) is a replica.

A great event and all involved in its organisation are to be congratulated - and a very attractive site!.

It was good that exhibits were kept in one field and caravans, modern vehicles, etc were in another. This made photography so much easier.

The ring that was laid out was removed on Saturday evening to allow space for exhibits to move about, By Sunday engines were moving around the show. If you have to choose between a few parades around the ring and free movement around the show I choose free movement every-time. The Old Warden Rally has demonstrated how successful this is and the Crank Up are using the same idea to suit their circumstances.

As the event organiser I would just like to explain the ring was an experiment the idea was for models and tractors to use it to play some game rolling barrels musical chairs etc. Unfortunately due to the size of the site we were unable to make the ring large enough with adequate roadways to have any parades safely.
Unfortunately due the size of the site and the number of exhibits with the ring in place we did not have sufficient space for engines to move around. As a result I took the decision on Saturday afternoon to remove the ring thus creating space for exhibits to move freely around the site.

Certainly was a great event, and for a season starter, sets standards for the year hopefully. Well done to John and the crew.

I would say this is one our favorite events already and look forward to being invited to again next year. Big thanks to John and everyone involved.

As others have said a great relaxed atmosphere, had the feel of an event for the exhibitors which the public are allowed into if you know what i mean......I am sure the public thoroughly enjoyed themselves as well.

One thing i think worth mentioning is the exhibitors were thanked individually which was appreciated by us all and something some events completely forget to do.

John

I made a comment in the first of my photo posts about the ring and no action.

My comment was made with no malice attached, I thoroughly enjoyed the event and endorse that a good job was done by all the organizers and I look forward to seeing another event next year.

I even achieved something by standing up on a traction engine after over 20 years attending rallies, so thanks for that opportunity.

Best wishes to all concerned.

Arthur
