Default Skeyton Trosh 2014

Once again I was privileged to be invited to a lovely little event held in the depths or Rural Norfolk, near North Walsham, which as something for every one, and is very working demo orientated.

This year John Macks 1898 Fowler works number 8334 "Sussana" was driving the threshing tackle compromising of a Ransomes sims and Jeffires RM 54 Drum (owned by Scot Bunting) and Lanz Buncher. John Mack had a second engine there, this being his 1914 Aveling & Porter 8 ton single cylinder slide valve roller works number 8378 "James", which was being looked after by Richard King.

A1924 Wallis and Steevens 8NHP single works number 7801 "Wanda" in the care of Glynn Moakes and owned by Kiki Angelrath (sister to the Late Jimmy Key of Strumpshaw Steam Museum). Wanda was driving Derek Kirk's home made rack saw bench.

The hoast, Tom Randell had his 1935 Marshall 8 ton single cylinder roller 87618, looked after and maintained by Steve and David Bush,

Steve and Mary Bush had their Sentinel/ERF Chinese 6 steam lorry JCN 898J "Typhoo." built by Irvin Barraclough using a ERF Lorry chassis and a Boiler and 100 HP engine from a EX-LNER Y9 sentinel shunting railway locomotive. His fireman, Shaun Holmes, also brought along his recently fully restored Allan's of Oxford 6 wheel crane.

Model steam section comprised of a 4" Burrell "Pam" (Formally Monarch) owned by Brian Catchpole and 6" Ruston Proctor 3 ton SD steam tractor "Runswell" owned by David Etheridge, and a 4" Scale Burrell SCC Road Loco owned by Dick Barker.

James Bretts 4" Burrell "Sybil" was on the belt as normal, and this weekend was driving R W Randell's Barcley Ross & Hutchison Barn drum. On October 5th, Sybil can be seen at the Prickwillow Pumping Museum, driving Robert Boby Winnowing Machine, for what will most likely be the last time before change of owner ship will allow some one else to have some enjoyment with the machine.

This years specialist working display was a display of working veteran combine harvesters. This included a early trailed types, small and narrow Header Massy Harris, and a bit more modern Ransomes. There was also working motor plough's such as British Anzani iron horse's and a ploughing match with tractors from the likes of Ferguson's, Fordson's, International's, David Brown's, etc all taking part.

There was a Larger range of stationary engines this year and static display of bygones, vintage and classic cars, motor cycles, commercial vehicles, and tractors were also on display.

There was a lovely relaxed feeling to the show, and where else could you get a large tray of Cod & Chips for just £5 that was both made from local produce and was very "Bootiful" which once again proved very popular

If you are in the Norfolk area during next years Skeyton Trosh, I can highly recommend a visit.

The EDP were at this years show and their report can be seen here http://www.edp24.co.uk/business/farm...yton_1_3786692 and their photo gallery here. http://www.edp24.co.uk/business/farm...ryId=1.3786692
