For Sale - Marshall Tractor 78953
To focus on other projects, my partner has decided to sell his Marshall Steam tractor – No 78953 – compound piston valve with radial valve gear.
She was built in 1926 as a convertible roller and sold to Huyton with Roby Urban District Council just outside Liverpool. After her time there she worked with several contractors and ended up with Herbert Gurnhill along with two other 5 ton Marshall Rollers. She was converted to a tractor (badly) at this point and rallied through the 1970s.
She was then bought in steam by Peter Jury and rallied once in the 1980’s before being pulled apart for restoration. The boiler was rebuilt with a Roger Pridham pressed crown box, new tubes and repairs to the tube plate. The boiler was finished in 1993 but sadly never went any further after the untimely death of Peter.
The engine was bought and restored between 2004 and 2009 with a new tender, new back axle, refurbished differential and rubber tyres fitted by Jimmer Marsh. A new canopy was built and all motion refurbished – cylinders bored, new pistons, piston valves, rods and many other repairs. A whole new front end was built as per Marshall drawings.
She can be seen in steam and all boiler paperwork is present for inspection. Please contact James via TT or phone Neil Mackinlay on 07960 323616.
