Large Dean Smith and Grace lathe.

I have for sale a large flat belt driven Dean Smith and Grace lathe. It comes with a 30" four jaw chuck, 30" face plate and a 12" 3 jaw chuck clamped in the four jaw chuck. From the face of the chuck to the end of the bed is 113", which gives you 97" between centres. Maximum swing over the bed is 24". It has a gap bed, which when removed gives you a gap from the face of the chuck of 11" and you can then swing 36". There are a number of gears to change for screw cutting. It also has a fixed steady with it. This lathe is imperial only. It has a three phase motor mounted onto a frame that also carries the line shafting and all the switch gear to operate it. This lathe was run up a few weeks ago and everything was in working order. When it was removed unfortunately the cast brackets for the line shaft bearings got broken, which could be welded or it will need a new pair of self aliening bearings fittings. I expect the lathe is around 5 tons in weight. Easy access for a Hiab lorry to get to load. I can arrange for a Hiab to load it onto your transport if required, if you are happy to pay their costs.
