Default Aveling E Type Governor valve arrangement

I am looking to find what sort of governor valve should be fitted to an E Type Aveling. The ports are bored 2 1/4" diameter, but appear to already be bushed. I would have thought a 1 3/4" diameter valve should be fitted with bushes to suit.?? usual size for this sized engine bore and stroke.

Any one got a drawing or any experience of what the arrangement is or should be?

many thanks

JW

I’ll check what’s on the drawings I’ve got. I’ve certainly got a cylinder drawing.

Remind me tomorrow evening!

Default Aveling 'E' type governor

For info, the Aveling 'E' type standard list of drawings does not include the governor, so I guess that it was a common fitting used across several of their products.

Drawing 9860 (Gearing Arrangement) does show the governor, but it is not dimensioned and there is no part number or reference included. However, the centre lines of the governor belt pulley and the crankshaft governor pulley are shown. I can send you extracts of the drawing if you send me a PM including your email address.

Has anyone got a 1.3/4" diameter double beat Pickering type governor valve going spare please.

Anything considered as I can make the seats to suit.

Even a 2" diameter valve may do or WHY?

Many thanks
