Great pictures Glen, the 1st one of Matts roller is superb. (I will have to pull Matts leg next time I see him about his "conversion" ex living van trailer). Matt has got this engine looking so smart in such a short space of time, obviously a lot of midnight oil has beeen burnt. Well done mate.
Severel of the engines present dont stray too far away from there home patch so it was good to see them. Glad you got your David Brown home OK, perhaps you should fit a roof ready for next years travels! Good to see so many engines roaded to this show which had a great selection of engines. Jim S |

Thanks for the pictures Glen. Another fine set as usual. There are some excellent pictures of the engines coming in, with Melford Hall in the back ground.
It is such a lovely setting for a rally, and I thought it was a lot bigger this year too. I think it will go down as one of my favourite shows in a long time. Great weather – great company and good fun & relaxed show down in Aveling corner. (Although the mountain bike stunt team will not be on display next year due to long term injury!!!) We had a good run on Sunday evening – 4.5 miles in Thurlow direction. Got a little wet too when the monsoon hit, but fortunately we were next to a lay-by at the time to kit out the wet weather gear. The engines around here may not go far but most are slow machines and there is a lot of roading goes on. Good to see Webbs Marshall out with original Marshall trailer. Very smart outfit and lots of work has been put in there to get her running properly again. Other favourites have to be Dysons Garratt which looks just right – nice and original along with Bakers Garratt who travelled through Sudbury with an impressive road train. PS – thanks Jim but you obviously didn’t look too closly – I’ve got to compete with a near spotless Sentinel in the near future. (Keeping up with the Jones and all that). All thats left to do is sort out every pin, bearing and linkage to take up 117 years of wear. Where will it end!! Good to see Mel and Jenny. She looked suitably impressed with the engines. A true Aveling fan like her dad. Engines awaiting the weekends fun The show It all got too much for our buding Aveling Driver on the way back from the ring The Shows youngest Sentinel Driver Melford Games - 08

Seriously Matt, your roller looked superb and I couldnt have looked any closer!
Great pics of the kids, two young budding engine drivers there, in a few years time we can just sit back and relax at rallies letting them do all the hard work. Hope to get the sentinel to Melford next year, should be good fun. Jim S |
