Default Royal Cornwall Show - 6 June 2013

Royalty at the Royal Cornwall Show today, in addition to Princess Ann, Foster 14446 The Leader made it's return to the rally field:

When I heard the rumours at Rockingham Castle that the Leader was planning to attend the RCS I couldn't resist going down to see her. I can just about remember the engine attending one of the Newhall Street rallies, not sure how long it is since it went to a rally but I should have thought at least 25 years.

I'm told the engine has several other rally appearances planned for this season, including Boconnoc.

There was a nice display of other engines, nearly all working. Some of the other engines in attendance:

First event out for this Floether portable, possibly the only Floether which can be steamed anywhere in the world:

And loads more country show related stuff to look at, well worth a visit.

Cracking day David! Nice to have a good chat with you as always! Well worth the 450 mile round trip for me! Got some good photos, but due to the lack of movement yours are pretty similar! Id like to thank Clive for letting me up on the footplate, the power of her gemerating for the Electric Yacht's was something else! Cant wait for Boconoc now!

An excellent show of vintage machinery, thanks to Rex Curtis for assembling a fine collection. John Boyling's Floether portable was a brilliant restoration and absolutely steam tight. Not a bubble of water from any of the 13 inspection doors (more than I have seen on any other engine). When I walked by it was belted up to the ex Howard Blackwell, Maynard chaff cutter you can see in front of it. The other unusual exhibit was the little laboratory stone crusher that Adrian Menear's Mac was driving, and demonstrating dust making! You can just see it in the above photo.

Is a proper Pat Collins reunion getting closer?

Leader, Griffin, Wait n See, No 1, Dreadnought, Goliath. All have been out in recent years.

Won't happen at GDSF but I can think of a couple of other places it might happen.
