[The Idle Fellow]

A small, friendly, one day event in a picturesque corner of Norfolk last weekend. Four full sized road steam vehicles and a handful of miniatures plus a large number of old tractors and a small number of other interesting machinery.

This A&P roller is just coming to the end of a rebuild and must be the quietest running one I have ever heard, thanks to work by local 'heritage engineer' Steve Barraclough.

At some point it was re-rolled by John Allen.


A Marshall roller was enjoying the sunshine.


Whilst a Wallis & Steevens engine was actually doing some work.


Also on display was 'Typhoo', the ERF six-wheeler fitted with the boiler and engine from a Sentinel shunting loco. It has been known to terrorise local traffic with speeds of up to 60 mph.


This is Typhoo's engine, the boiler and driver's seat can just be made out in the background.

Looks to have been a nice event Bill, and you got lucky with the weather as well!

That is a real top job on the Aveling roller, great to see it in steam. This was the engine which had been converted to diesel many years ago (by Allens?) and was a total derelict, basically a knackered boiler on rolls and with a tender and some gears.
