Wink Stationary boiler

Still keeping half an eye out for a small vertical boiler (about 4'x2' but no smaller) to run a vertical marine engine, ideally in good order.

What pressure do you need? Preston services have a couple, but probably only good for about 50psi.

50 psi would certainly turn the engine but i ideally want a slightly higher pressure boiler so that i could perhaps fit a belt pulley to the engine and do some work with it (sawbench etc) rather than just watch it spin a wheel. But a low pressure boiler is better than nothing! I've seen the ones at Preston on the internet, they've got a good selection, its just a shame its so far away.

Cheers
Ryan

you'd be supprised what 50psi would do, i know a chap who ran a thrashing machine with a portable at 40lb quite happily, it was very wet steam but many of the early engines only ran at these lower pressures any how.

Thinking about it, even at 50 psi it'll still have over a quarter of a ton shoving the piston down and then back up again so it won't really matter. It will still run rings round a lister A type anyway!

I'll keep you updated with any progress, cheers

Ryan
