Fairford Steam Rally 2015
While most people were gorging themselves in Lincoln, we made the short trip to Fairford. It's very small in terms of numbers of engines (11) but we wanted to film the steam ploughing and in that respect we were very successful, thanks to the full cooperation of all involved. That will appear on YouTube quite soon. The photo report is here, the ploughing pictures give just a hint of the fun!

Fairford Steam Rally 2015
I have now uploaded a 10 minute clip of the steam ploughing with the K7 and Z7 (little and large) Fowler engines.
Definitely this offering was the highlight of the show: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGG8U_-Hzhs |

The costs are not affected. But you limit income from the gate. To me its madness.

What is madness is the rush to leave a sodden showground en masse at 4pm when the handful of people that have actually paid to come in have long gone home and everyone is told they can leave, only to end up in a mudbath at the gate with the tow tractors on overtime and churning it up further.
They were pretty organised at getting us out, holding the big heavy stuff until the multitude of lighter stuff that would most likely get out without too much grief was clear (and stopping people on the flat until the run through the slippery/ tight/ sloping bit through the farmyard was clear). This meant that it probably took most the afternoon to get people on their way, but it did mean most exhibitors got out without assistance. |

They couldn't get public in the car parks safely as it was so wet. I can assure you they didn't take the decision lightly. |

But I've turned up to shows in the past, parked up, there with my tenner hanging out at the gate to be told to go home. That is madness.
