Default Springfields Park - 2 Oct 2021

Some pics from today. It rained a lot but it was just nice to be able to get out and about after such a long time.

Your Foden photo has lots of "steamy atmosphere". Looks like it poured down in the first photos.

Can you imagine the ploughing engine on rubbers trying to wind a balance plough through heavy ground in those conditions? I think the engine would be going towards the plough rather than the other way round!

Well done to the Organisers for staging this event. I am sorry that for various reasons including a lack of fuel that I was not able to attend and once again the weather conspired against them. The engine owners are to be congratulated as well for taking the time to show their steeds in such appalling weather.

It was a rather damp weekend all told - but great to be out having fun.

Looking at the photos shown here there seem to be five engines that I have not seen before. Hopefully, they will be attending Boconnoc or Stithians next year and I will be there to see them. I felt sorry for the poor guys on the Foden and the two engines without canopies. It is not nice having cold Cornish rain soaking you and running down behind your ears. Whereas the poor guys on the Foden looked like they were having a steam bath, how did they ever manage to see out? When these engines worked for a living their crews must have been a hardy breed who were determined to get the job done. Nowadays the whole lot would probably be grounded during bad weather on health and safety grounds!

You can see fine out of the foden when it’s blowing off like that, as long as you’ve got the windscreen open.

It's a lovely engine, just the thing for autumn Road Run's. New to F.H. Richards in Leicester. There was some interest discussion about it previously on this thread.
