Default Bedfordshire Steam and Country Fayre 2008

Just got back from Old Warden, loads to see as normal. Conditions were a bit dodgy this morning but the sun came out at lunchtime and it's drying up nicely.

Highlight for me was Alfie Cheyne's Aveling TE, that he bought a few years back at the Coupland sale, now restored and looking superb:

There were a large number of Scottish engines that had made the trip down:

Princess Marina was there and generating:

The best steam ploughing you are likely to see:

They managed to get the showman's engines through the mud:

All the the usual fantastic surroundings:

Thanks to everybody involved.

Just returned having been there since friday, some heavy rain on friday afternoon looked like it could screw it all up, but well done to Paul and his team for senible actions and the good weather aloud the site to dry up enough to ensure free movement of vehicles yet again. Also having helped to book exhibitors in on Friday there were very few grumbles as some things were moved last minute due to site conditions. I spent all weekend end cruising around with my small burrell c/w children and dog, with no problem at all. I could have sworn i sore some dust by this afternoon! Excellant w/e roll on next year.

I agree completly with what David wrote in the original post about this fine event.

Its great that even after going to the likes of Welland, Lincoln, Pickering and Dorset this year I have still managed at Bedford to find some fine exhibits that I have not pointed my camera at before.

Below are few of the image i have taken at this years event.

More photos from this years event can be found here

Many thanks to the organisers of this event, here's to 2009

We had our first Old Warden with a engine, albeit a miniature and we had a fantastic time, arrived on thursday and left this morning. It is a credit to all of the people who help organise such a big event, it really shows how much goes into putting this rally on. We are looking forward already to next years!!

The GDSF certainly delivers when it comes to quantity.
However, you have to come to Old Warden for quality with always a good range of exhibits that are new to this fantastic event. Weather conditions on Friday afternoon were atrocious but by Saturday lunchtime everything was back on course.
A big thank you to Paul Worby.........his family.....and the team of helpers.

On behalf of the B.S.E.P.S Officers and Committee we would like to thank all those who helped to make the show a great success again. The people who helped, those who loaned equipment when the rain came, and to all the exhibitors who were patient on Friday when we were getting you on site.

Back to work today after clearing up, there are still helpers on site doing the final pulling down and litter picking.

I roaded home yesterday in the sunshine

And to prove we had sunshine on Sunday
