How many more will be cancelled?

I hear on the grapevine another good show has been cancelled later on in the year.

There will be no rallies this year. Surely that is no great shock?

Risk assessments will need to demonstrate that all site work can be done with social distancing, and that the event can be run with social distancing.

One suspects insurance will also increase accordingly.

If the pubs are shut, you aren't going to get a beer tent, no fair either (so much reduced income for the event, plus reduced visitor numbers)

Absolutely right... no great shock about cancellations.

The only amazing thing is some rallies still being advertised.when its more than obvious they wont be on.

I agree. We have a few that I'm sure will be cancelled, yet they are hanging on in a vane hope! I've written this year off, almost everything we attend up to the end of September is off, and to be honest if things did return to 'normal' in autumn many of our club members are in their late seventies/mid to late eighties so would be very wary about venturing out onto a busy showground anyway. It does annoy me slightly though when large events like our local Cromford rally, who have mine and other exhibitors details, haven't contacted us and we had to find out via their website, not everyone is on line. I suppose they just assumed that folk would realise anyway?

Pete.

I think that we must be at the stage where we have to abandon all rallies this year and there is no guarantee that we will be able to hold any rallies early next year. Last night I attended via Zoom our Full Town Council meeting as I am a Town Councillor. This was the first time that we have had a virtual meeting. We have started planning to hold virtual meetings until next May as we do not foresee the Lockdown being removed in the meantime based on the information which has been presented to us.

From my list of intended rallies - Whitwell is supposed to be postponed until 25th/26th July. No word on Knebworth, Old Warden or Turvey, as of yet. What will be, will be

I wouldn't rely on that too much, off hand I can think of at least two events we have booked into that have been cancelled but not informed us personally. I keep checking the internet for news of others, but very few of our club members (including the committee apart from myself) have internet access.

Pete.
