Brampton Plough Day 2021, near Beccles in Suffolk - "A traditional ploughing competition with displays and demonstrations of farming equipment both old and new".
Burrell agricultural engine no. 3249 of 1910 was driving a drum and straw trusser to thresh out some wheat for a local thatching straw producer. However there was not enough of this to keep the crew going all day, so they found a four furrow plough that had earlier been used by something large with caterpillar tracks.
On a hot, sunny day there was no exhaust steam visible, but in the third photo you can just make out the slight haze from good steam coal being forcibly ejected from the elegant, cast Burrell chimney. All 7 nominal horses sounded in great voice. Thanks folks. Great fun.
Bill.
