Default 1 in. BSPT tap

I need an oversize 1 in. BSPT tap to re-cut an existing fusible plug thread which is beyond the capacity of the standard taper tap. Does any member have such an item they can sell or lend to me or does anyone know of an affordable supplier please?
Thanks.

Yes Tom, I tried Tracy Tools and they could supply a 'Special'. Cost between £300-£400. I thanked them but didn't buy!
I'll try Heritage Steam and see if I can hire one from them.

Thanks to both of you for your advice.

John, we currently have only a 3/4" Oversize tap to 1.190". The demand for 1" is very limited and we have not as a result replaced the last one which disappeared two years ago. I'm still looking for it, but this would be the first time we have been asked for a 1" Oversize Tap. Sorry, wish we could help.

We do purchase ours from Tracy Tools so may revisit this again for next winter season.

Stuart

Hi John I have several 1" BSP taps I will have a look tomorrow as I am not sure whether they are taper or not do you know how much oversize you need ? I know when I served my time you can get taps to cut oversize using a simple solution however I do not know if it works on all sizes as we used them only on taps up to 3/4" .I will post tomorrow if I can help.Regards Ernest.

Hi John you have not replied re the actual size you need to cut to? like mudlid says you can use a piece of tin ,however I doubt that it will work considering you are Tapping Boiler plate,my solution may work but i need the size of you i have had a look and need to measure my taps to see if they will do the job Please reply ASAP as another Steam enthusiast is also interested. Thanks
