Default Fig Pie Wybunbury 2014

This year we could only spend a couple of hours at this local event. It rained from the time we arrived until we left but that did not dampen anyone's spirits. As we were departing around 2-o'clock the sky brightened and the sun came out. We hope the rest of the day went off well. Many thanks to Mark and his team and to the engine owners and crews for turning out braving the weather.
The final image shows a sequence highlighting the consideration road users give to steam on the road.

Lovely pictures, as ever David. The run back from the village was a bit drier and less fraught.
Cheers.

Ah yes the rain, but as David pointed out it stopped later on to make the afternoon very pleasant.

Thanks must go to Mark and family for looking after us, Mrs B.F for the taxi service on Friday, J.P for his beer, Mr & Mrs (soon) Black for their company, and all the others i spoke to, and also to the unknown Lady who made the cake i had a large slice of while watching the Morris and Appalachian dancers !.

As usual i only took a few quick snaps !.

The first one from the run over on Friday (in the sun) we had just pulled over to fill the tender, and after we got back to Barracks yesterday when there was a cloud burst as we all tried to sheet up after which the sun came out !. Well i say all B.F took to the shed !.

We had a great day out.

What made it particularly special for me was that it was the first time my daughter came along with the engine to any sort of event and thoroughly enjoyed it. In her words "she never knew it would be so nice".

I have to attribute this in no small part to the hospitality of Mark and his family, as always the good company as a whole and a very nice event in a lovely setting.

John

Thanks to all who supported us again this year. The firebar family, Mr Sawman, Chris, I had a beer the night before and won't rock up till lunchtime, Pole, the Bregazzis, Engine John and family, Mr JP for his kind donation (sadly I only had a taster as I was on duty, but what I did taste was good,) Rocket Roddy and his crew, Mr Boesing, the soon to be blacks, Contractor for supplying the dancers, DaveJE for the fantastic piccys, One of the Allison clan held their end up by biking 20 odd miles, And last but not least the Tower Trust guys who put a lot of effort in to make it happen, it raises a couple of grand for local charities, not a lot in today's world, but it also gives the locals a fun day out and keeps an ancient tradition alive. Thanks guys! Very sorry if I have missed anyone - it's not intentional.
