Steam on the Levels 2011 - Somerset 4th & 5th of June
Steam on the Levels - 2011 marks the 150th Anniversary of Westonzoyland Pumping Station Museums most prestigious exhibit, the 1861 Easton Amos Steam Land Drainage Machine. We have dedicated a two day special steaming weekend event on the 4th & 5th of June 2011 to celebrate the 150 years the engine has been located at Westonzoyland Pumping Station. The engine will be seen running in steam, having been recently repainted, alongside the other 25+ stationary steam & diesel exhibits based at the museum. To add to the celebrations a number of special guest exhibits will also be attending the museum on an extended site:
-The Bridgwater Garrison will be dressed up in suitable battle gear along with a number of small soldiers tents and other items of interest giving regular demonstrations to visitors. -A 1942 Scammell Lorry and its 1920's Showmans Living Wagon. -The neighbouring Environment Agency controlled diesel pumping station will be open. -The Weston-Super-Mare Amateur Radio Society will be broadcasting from the event. -The Somerset & Dorset Railway trusts Lister Locomotive from Fisons Peat works pairing up with Westonzoyland Engine Trusts Lister Locomotive originally from the same peat works with a rebuilt peat wagon will be running on the newly extended railway. The SDRT will also have a stand at the event. -A collection of classic cars and motorcycles. -A series of vintage tractors. -Stationary Engines Also available at the event will be a special limited edition mug celebrating the anniversary, details of which are available on the website.
