I think the current owner bought it as a pile of bits and put it back together

Don't think so - Ray Preece the previous owner rebuilt the boiler ( fitted a new firebox etc.) and took it to Dorset 2007 I think, in a finished and running state.
It's always looked as it does now in preservation.

I think the Pirate is talking about the full size Ramsons where as mugglesquop and myself were talking about the model that MG asked about earler in the thread.

that would make a lot more sense - i was wandering if you would actually bother rebuilding the firebox seperatly on a model

My apologies - must read more carefully.
The freelance is owned by a guy from Bridgend, South Wales.
He purchased it as is a few years ago - knowing nothing about steam engines.
It's often described as a Burrell Road Loco!!
Single speed an' all.
Lister A stationary engine flywheel.

i've heard a commentator call it a Burrell Road Loco before... did confuse me for a while
