Default (Spoiler Alert) Witheridge St John's Fayre

I think it's only fair to offer a spoiler alert before this post. Witheridge St John's Fayre saw the first public appearance of Burrell traction engine 3903 'Excelsior' after the completion of an extensive restoration.

So for anyone who is looking forward to seeing her in the flesh for the first time at Powderham Castle on 12-13 July and don't want a sneak preview, then better close this thread now!

I know I was looking forward to seeing Foremost in the flesh at Cerney at made the mistake of looking on the internet first...so here's a chance for those that want to keep it a surprise...

Default ...now for those that are still reading!

I was very lucky to be able to help take Excelsior along in the bright sunshine to the local St John's Fayre in Witheridge. It was amazing to she her out in the sun, completely painted and lined after a very extensive restoration. She really is a credit to the owners and everyone who has put the hard work in over the years. She's really is a stunning engine!

What a fantastic result, I can remember Nick talking to us about his restoration when we were with 4019 Britannia at a Parham rally years and years ago. It certainly has been a long time coming, well done all.

Cant say any more than what has been said above, exept to praise the meticulous detail that has been put into this engine by Nick Dicker over the years, from doing all the boiler work with his father to the whole painting & lining out, lovely engine.
