Following the warranty work, I made a new wrapper for the stove. Also is kept the boys entertained this afternoon, with the zinc rich primer. Thanks go to GEO (Johnny White).

Its a good thing its going on Ebay after you've painted it with zinc rich paint, you will gas the buyer rather than you and the kids.
I believe there is a product called stove paint.

Do Tortoise stoves have/need grates in them for burning coal? I guess if you’re just on wood the fire sits on a bed of hot ash.

No grate, put some small bits of kindling in the bottom of the stove, make sure its well alight, fill it up to the top with coal. The idea is to limit the amount of air getting to the coal through the sliding bottom door, I used to have about an 1/8" gap and the stove would stay alight for a couple of days. Hence Slow but sure.
