Default Bygone Rally, Bressingham 29th September

This years Bygone Day at Bressingham will feature the products of Elijah Youngs, a small engineering firm from Diss in Norfolk. As well as horse ploughs, hand turned chaff cutters and other useful farming tools, they produced Thrashing drums and 16 Portable Steam Engines. The sole surviving Youngs portable will be in steam (albeit on reduced pressure, it is in need of a firebox and front tube plate) as well as a thrasher and other Youngs products. Four great grand children of Elijah and coming from all around the globe to be present.

I have managed to get the only known copy of a Youngs sales catalogue reprinted, with the intention of selling them to provide funds towards the cost of the new firebox for the portable engine. Cost is £15 each. 50 plus pages of fascinating products by this little known local firm, which includes cast iron Church heaters among its wide range.

Forecast does not look brilliant, but hoping for some sunny periods between the showers...
