Default Kivells Vintage Sale - 10 Oct 2015

Just been over to Kivells sale at Dingles this mornin. I couldn't stick around to see the roller and portable sold but I'm sure somebody who was there will post prices here.

A lot of interest in Aveling & Porter 2018, originally a Mowlem owned engine then spent the rest of it's life in Leicestershire before going to current owner in Bristol who has owned it since the 70's:

The Marshall Portable is Britannia type, 58922 - part restored:

The most interesting lot to me were these plates off Burrell Gold Medal Tractor, 3375:

This was in interesting engine, I have this picture of it when it was with with original owner E.H. Jones of Newton undertaking war work in Wales:

It was then sold to showman Elias Stokes in Southampton who fitted dynamo bracket and full length canopy and renamed it Tarzan, it had further owners after this and was cut up very late on in 1957 in Hampshire.

I don't think you would want to do much roading with it but if you want one of the oldest, most interesting rollers on the rally field it is the one to have.

Best not speak too soon but there were a few big hitters there this morning so I might guess where it is headed to if it sells.

Old soft single, right up my street.

But like you say you'd not get very far in a day on it.

But it would be a good day all the same.

The Victorian rollers have beautiful lines. Really must get mine done......

It would be lovely if the roller came back to Leicestershire. Or at least could join the line up at Quorn at Easter with the other Leicestershire rollers. I well remember seeing it at local rallies in the late 1960s.

Those old avelings trundle along a treat. Not fast but lots of fun on the road. Look forward to seeing her out again soon.

Gone to Rob Rymer so I've heard, so to a good home. Well done that man! You could put her in a mock up of an old photo & not notice the difference , truly the mark of a good restoration.
Also the portable to Mark Fellows , well done again Mark!
