Default Welland 2015

We made it for the road run on Thursday but the weather on Friday deterred us from attending. Saturday, however, was great. This is one of our favourite rallies. We had a great time meeting old friends and making new ones.

Well I'll give it a go. I went to Welland Sunday. Had a quick walk around, before during and after the show closed. All in the space of 2hours. My camera makes the weather look considerably better than it was.

I did take loads, my phone suggests I walked 7.5 miles around the site in 2 hours so for me great show, and special thanks to the guy in the model tent with several 2" models, for advice and ideas we shared. Hoping next year for sun stroke.

Having sat in the caravan all day Friday, we had a great day on Saturday and left on Sunday morning.
The main problem was the inaccessability of the miniture section- in the exhibitors only camping park and only acess to the main area was through the stationary engine lines- we were not popular trying to get through. Then the gate closed for engine movement at 7 on Saturday evening so we could not get out.
I had a word with the officials.

Having the miniatures where they were seemed a daft idea as the lanes between the Stationary engines that they had to drive through to get anywhere weren't the widest and led to problems with moving engines and pedestrians. It also didn't help that one or 2 miniature drivers were driving them like lunatics, 1 even managing to crash into one of the wagons with the big engines on the back!!

Default Welland 2015

A set of pictures from a fabulous Saturday. My commiserations to those including the owner of steam loco Woto who could only attend on Friday and / or Sunday.

As usual, this is a provisional version and I will correct errors as they emerge. Please let me know if you spot any howlers.
