Default Beamish Steam Navvy

The steam navvy was working well on Friday, at least when I saw it late morning.

Default Great North Steam Fair

Beamish Steam is much more than the road engines, However, I got to 27 of them by the end of the day, but as most were moving around there might have been more. Plus 2 or 3 steam cars.

4 standard gauge locos working on 3 systems plus 3 on the narrow gauge plus the navvy, the winding engine and the gallopers.

Good attendance with full car park, queues for trams, trains and food. Very happy for the organisers who take a big gamble holding such an event so early in the season.

Still cloudy in Washington but forecast is good during the opening hours. Very little if any rain overnight although it's nor critical at Beamish.

Should be another great day.

It was an excellent day, the clouds cleared as we arrived at 10:30am although it was bloody cold due to the wind. Not sure if my face is sunburt, wnedburnt or sandblasted from the occasional dust storm. Super day though and the amount of vehicle movements around the site including allmthe non steam was brilliant, I will certainly attend this event again.

Shame the weather has turned today but it will keep the dust down. Would love to take our engine in the future but dont know how you get invited. Must be a very special list.

Just made it back home to Somerset,

Glad i managed to get there at 15.05 on saturday and get in for a few hours as the weather today did really ruin photos,

My first time visit and must say it was all fairly enjoyable, the backdrop of Beamish makes for good photos of traction engines, vintage vehicles etc,

Slight question on the subject that Brian in post 6 asks,
Is it invite only, do they limit the engines to what we had this weekend ? or do they welcome more if they are asked ??

Will i be back.......?...........

I would like to.......... its a long olde way though

Good spot Hedd!

A cracking week/weekend away, the event does seem to get better and better each year, but I hope it doesn't get much bigger, as it could soon become too much for the venue.

I did 3 of the 4 days after deciding to head home in the rain yesterday!

Some of my pictures have been put up on the NTET's website, I'll try and figure out how to get them on here at some point. I was very lucky with photos over the event and have lots of people to thank!

Best start of the year you could ask for!

Paul
