I was looking at buying the one at Harolds when Joe Lawley offered me the one he has so I did not follow it up and it has since sold ! but as Joe has now gone back on the deal that we made and put the saw on the open market for offers over twice the price we agreed !!!! I am now looking elsewhere. I have had a couple of leads today so there is hope yet

Hi -

There is reputedly a nice vertical frame saw in a derelict mill in Wales, I've never seen it but I know who to contact. Is a vertical any good to you?

There is a horizontal Kirchner, like Joe Lawley's, on the ground in a yard, in pieces, with one of the main castings broken. I think it might be complete, but who knows until it is rebuilt. I think the owner might sell. This one needs more than tlc, it needs a major reconstruction job.

There's a huge and rather magnificent horizontal Guilliet in the reclamation yard just east of Hungerford town centre, but it has two cracked castings and a lot of the intermediate drive gear missing. It is restoreable but like all these big saws you have to be careful, it's OK to spend £100k on rebuilding a derelict traction engine because you will get your money back but if you spend £30k restoring a saw you will only get some of that back.

I own a Guilliet horizontal reciprocating saw (frame saw). See http://retrorides.proboards.com/thre...awmill-railway
I would like to keep in touch with other owners of these scarce items so when you find yours please let me know.

Michael
