we use to go for many years with vintage tractors on the field i asked Len ricketts who organises the rally on the field about a friend with his aveling 6 ton roller coming he said the town was not up to him but he was welcome on the field and did not think it would be able to go in the town because of all sorts of problems with underground drians , witch seems daft when you think of a heavy showmans engine

Don't get me wrong, it's a great event but it seems to be lacking given the potential.

I attended last year with my four inch Foster (on the field) the way I understand it is they are two separate shows with two different titles. The one based in the town centre is the "Victorian Extravaganza Weekend" and the one on the field is the "Transport Extravaganza", both run by different people I gather.

It's the full size engines based in the town centre that have a grand parade, there isn't a parade starting from the showground anymore although the miniatures do have a trundle down the seafront on the Saturday night. It's a great weekend no matter which show you're booked in with. It's not often I unzip the tent at a rally in the morning and look out to sea! Lee

Erm....Don't they use heavy rollers when the roads are being resurfaced !. what's wrong with having a few steam rollers in the parade !.

slightly off topic but left llandudno this morning and took a ride to anglysea to see a roller roading towards the main land maybe he got his dates wrong and missed the parade

The Club's Aveling or the ''Who Would Have thought it, MY Scaffold bought it!'' Clayton?

I believe there was a small gathering at a pub to publicise the forthcoming rally.

It was the the ANGLESEY (note the splling) Aveling going to display in front of Pringles outlet shop advertising our rally in two week time

Alan Kelly MY Scaffolding bought two engines that were at one time on Anglesy. I hoping he buy a third if he opens his wallet wider

Brilliant pics once again David, I was there on the sunday and after a long walk round the field looking at some superb trucks etc, and having talked to numerous people, I then headed into town, having not been for a couple of years, I was shocked by the amount of fairground rides, they were crammed in every street, whilst the steam section was put in a side street or out side the pub, I think the original idea of a Victorian weekend has long gone, what a great shame, I remember the whole of Mostyn Street crammed with engines and organs for its whole length.
