Motor required
Seasons greetings to everyone.
The motor on my old Wilson lathe has just gone kaput so just wondering whether anyone might have something that would suit as a replacement. It is a big old 3hp 3 phase thing but as I am using a converter with it then I could fit a single phase in its place. Even 2hp should be ok as nothing seems to trouble the lathe and it has a clutch so starting is no problem. The present motor is foot mounted and from base of foot to centre of shaft is 120mm and the shaft is 1" dia. Plenty of room to fit it though so practically any size should do. Thanks for looking. Keith. |

Keith, I have a NEWMAN motor which is only 1 HP but it used to drive a milking plant. If it is of use to you then £25 gets it, plus I am only an hour from you, however if not then no worries.
Pete. Plate on the side reads; NEWMAN INDUCTION MOTOR. H.P. 1 PHASE 1. 50 C/S 1440 RPM. INS CLASS. E. VOLTS, 220-240/ 440-480 AMPS 7.36/3.66. 6/68. DATE? Dimensions; length 15 inches overall, height 11 inches, 3/4 inch shaft. Weight, ? at least 1/4 cwt I would guess. PS, the above post of Phil's appeared while I was typing this, so not trying to 'gazump' anyone ha ha! Last edited by ruston3hp; 23rd December 2011 at 06:23 PM.. Reason: Adding text. |
