Default Axial feed unit

Bit of a long shot but has anyone got a axial feed unit or something that can feed a rotating shaft?

I'm trying to make a line boring setup to do my crank bearing on a half size .

Thanks

What about using a cylinder boring machine - van norman or similar, used on I.C. engines?
I have such a thing if it's of any use.
It's presently on loan to someone, but easily fetched back if needs be.

Dave,

Having looked at the commercial line boring equipment available from the US, a lot of them are based simply on mag-based drills, with an arbor with the single point cutter moved by action of the magdill handle. At least one of the companies reckons that a bungee cord provides a reasonable feed, its not exactly smooth/accurate control but probably good enough. Its the approach we plan to take when line boring out the third-shaft bearings on the Aveling.

I have been looking online most of today to try to find a cylinder boring machine with no luck at a suitable price. Trystans offer could well be just the job!

A mag drill did through my mind which you have now confirmed; I don’t have a mag drill one could easily be purchased second hand from eBay.

The advantage of borrowing Trystans cylinder borer would be the inbuilt feed

This may be a stupid question but what sort of support bearings are normally used as the shaft has to rotate and move forwards?

Thanks for the help and ideas.

Dave
