Default Weeting 2011

Just got back,

New show layout, loads of engines in all sizes, loads of food, beer, talk, chat oh and rain

Friday was ok, but quiet being a weekday, started raining at midnight and finished at about 4 o'clock Saturday, absolutely pissistant rain, Saturday evening was better but no real visitors, Sunday started out dodgy- bit dry bit wet and stayed that way all day a few more visitors though which was good to see.

I have a strange feeling the organisers lost on that show which is a shame.

I also discovered my boots leaked badly and had to buy a new pair

I think you are right the exhibitors out numbered the punters most of the time, can't imagine they made much from the gate a real shame! We had lots of fun though.

A good crowd on Sunday, and I beleive Saturday was insured, so maybe not as bad as it appeared. Alway enjoy Weeting, tho I did feel the 'buzz has gone a little over the last couple of years, that maybe due to lots of factors, not all of which are within the controll of a rally organiser.

blimey I didn't know you could insure against weather! Good job if they did though.

Sunday definately had a better feeling about it but was still marred by the slightly inclement weather

I had a great time though and spent plenty of time chatting about my engine which is what it's all about I guess

I have visited Weeting for many years and it does seem to have lost a bit of the wow factor but can't put a finger on why.

I thought the insurance cover you could obtain was for total cancellation. It's a bit difficult to quantify how much your gate is down (the loss) due to inclement weather. However it's relatively simple to calculate your loss if the whole event is cancelled due to weather.

Given the poor weather forecast for the weekend, I went on the Friday. largely sunny morning, clouded over in the afternoon
My list of what I saw (pasted from a spreadsheet, hence a little bit untidy),not sure if anything else turned up on Sat or Sun.

I beleive that there are different levels of insurance depending (event organisers please correct if wrong, I maybe !), but the figure I heard from a few quarters Sat eve, was Mr. Parrots was, if 3 hours (or more) of CONTINUOUS rain fell on any one day, which it bl**dy did ! Please correct me if that is wrong.
