Owston Ferry Pumping Station
Sunday 13th June . The Owston Ferry Pumping Station will be holding an event to celebrate the centenary of the installation of the Marshall Tandem Compound Pumping Engine, thought to be unique. The installation comprises of two Marshall Cornish boilers and the right hand engine of what was once a pair of engines. The left hand engine was replaced in the 1950's with a Ruston Hornsby 8HR twin cylinder diesel engine. Both engines drive Drysdale centrifugal pumps. Unfortunately the boilers are not servicable, we were hoping to steam the engine with a separate boiler but it now looks like the engine will run on compressed air.
There will be other Marshall products in the grounds of the station on display. Anyone wishing to attend can find the Pumping station at South Street, Owston Ferry, North Lincolnshire,
DN9 1RP. Admission £2.50, under 16's free.
