The following report was provided by Paul Gilbey. Thanks Paul.
The S6T at Stotfold Mill was part of an order of 100 wagons placed by the Argentine Coal Board with Sentinel 12 of the wagons were second-hand the remaining 88 were built by Sentinel with some modifications from the 1930’s design.
The works number of the Engine is 9510 and is said to be the last steam wagon built by the company. Only two of the 88 engines supplied are known to exist. This engine was never delivered to its intended destination in Argentina a Coal Mine in Patagonia and is said to have remained in Buenos Aries area of the country. It has only been in the UK for a matter of a couple of weeks. The owner intends to take the waggon back to the isle of man and register it there later in the year. The vehicle will have a metal tipper body made and fitted to the chassis in due course so that it appears as originally built by sentinel.
