Can these still be found in unrestored/derelict state?

I always fancied one as a curiosity but can't find any for sale. Anybody have one they might sell on?

I don't, but have seen them from time to time. RRA AGM on Saturday, if I remember, I will ask. I can also put something on the RRA Facebook page and ask.

If you mean a Paddy's Pogo Stick , they were horrible dangerous gut busting things , and should be recycled to make Guinness barrells .

That looks like a Pegson, which would be an alternative for Carl to look for. Used to work for Pegsons and they are, as others say, dangerous things. There were factory tales of people being knocked out cold and rumours of a fatality.

As a product they were rapidly displaced by the German wackers, powered by a conventional petrol engine and rather more predictable in use, but still a gut-buster.

Definitely a Benjo, it still has the transfer on it. Also the plate in the pic says Warsop.

They do make a very satisfying noise that is quite distinctive. If you heard one working as a kid, you recognise it immediately.

While on the subject of free piston devices , there used to be free piston pile drivers , which I fancy used a diesel cycle . What puzzled me about these was that they had a very metallic clang to them . Was this from the contact with the steel pile , or was there a metal stop within the device itself ?
