Anyone know what the air display was for. I assume that it wasn't to do with the rally as there was no mention of it in the programme. Maybe another event at the house?

I gather that the Sultan of Brunei was there for a quiet weekend .
They were actually quality heavies , very polite , and could see the funny side of it . Apparently the shades are not standard issue . They complained that they have to buy their own . |

I had a bizarre silent stand off at the gate, a total silence - no - you tell me what you are here for first - I'm not going to be the first one to speak - moment while facing two reflections of me with a gormless grin on my face. I thought Bagram would be the next stop for a minute ...

The joke was that they seemed to have come with a fleet of up to the minute Range Rovers , gray like their rather tight suits , which were smartly decalled " Discreet Security " . They were certainly not inconspicuous , so perhaps they meant " polite security " . I suspect that Lady Gretton would have played hell if they had overstepped the mark .
