7" Scale Fowler Steam Tractor

This no compromise model was built over a 13 year period and is unique. The full build story can be found here:

Based on the Fowler steam lorry, but built as a "cut down" tractor and fitted with pneumatic tyres as so many were in the latter days of steam haulage. The model has a V twin engine driving through a 3 speed gearbox to a shaft driven rear axle. The boiler is a vertical firetube type with smokebox twin coil superheater. The vehicle runs on readily available 2CV tyres mounted on 10 stud wheels, with 4 tyres on the rear axle. Hydraulic brakes in 10" drums are fitted to all wheels. The model is road registered and seats two inside the cab.

For larger people, the roof is removeable with 4 toggle clips and the back of the cab can be removed with 4 M6 screws to give ample room.

The boiler is currently tested under the model engineering club scheme as it is less than 500 Bar litres capacity. It could be tested under a commercial scheme. I intend to hydraulic and steam test the boiler this winter, so it will be ready to rally with a 2 year ticket next year.
The vehicle weighs 1100 kg empty and has been rallied on a 10' x 5' flatbed trailer behind our motorhome.
The sale includes boiler certification, a full set of build drawings, parts list, operating instructions, all casting patterns, files for lasercut parts, superheater build jig, engine build jig, steam cleaning lance and various spares. The sale does not include the copyright to the design.
