Default Abbey Hill 2008

Abbey Hill 2008 has entered the history books as the probably the most successful Abbey Hill event so far.

Leading up to the event the weather threw everything it possibly could at us. We are extremenly fortunate to have such a fantastic site and despite trying its worst we were undefeated. By the time the site opened its doors to exhibitors on Thursday lunchtime we were well advanced and it was all coming together nicely.

Steam and working area entries were well up on last year with some fantastic exhibits joining us for the first time. (take a look at Steam Scenes to get an idea).

The weather improved dramatically for the actual rally to bring record gate numbers on all three days and we were able to bring off all planned ring events sucessfully. (Even if it was playing it by ear somewhat.)

Special mention must go to Robbie Richards and family and Phil Vanstone who between them created such a wonderful display outside the beer tent. Thanks folks.

We know a few mistakes were made and we aim to learn from those to produce something special for 2009, our 30th anniversary. Please make a date in your diary, May bank Holiday weekend, 2009.

A big thank you to all exhibitors and paying public alike, without you we would not have a show.

See you all again in 2009.

Charlie.
