Default 1922 Aveling & Porter C-Type 8 Tonne Steam Roller

A lovely roller and a sensible size, the new riveted box 12 years ago is in great shape as is the rest of the boiler (Wothers report available on request). It's just completed the first 10 year hydraulic examination since major boiler works, with very good thickness and condition all around. New timber lagging has now been fitted and many maintenance jobs undertaken whilst stripped down (hydraulic expires 2031, steam test June 2022), it’s all up together and ready to go.

10445 was built for The Eddison Steam Rolling Company Ltd, this roller joined the Birmingham Depot as fleet number 430. Extra options specified by Eddison were twin injectors, no water pump and a coal rack which the engine still has. In 1979 the engine sold at the Great Dorset Steam Fair sale and headed to Cornwall where it underwent a full restoration and had a flywheel brake fitted to cope with the areas steep hills, a sliding firebox door and the engine was named “Semper Fidelis” (Always Faithful). In 2009 major boiler works were undertaken including a new riveted firebox.

The engine comes with a set of firing irons, a full set of sheets in excellent condition, spark arrestor, many spares, and the scarifier (the scarifier isn’t currently fitted).

Located in South Oxfordshire, please contact for further details or a copy of Dave Wothers boiler inspection report.
