Volt & Amp metres
 
Looking for a matching set of Volt and Amp metres for Royal Sovereign. Please PM me if anyone has some suitable. Thanks.

Hi.
Excuse my ignorance but what is a royal sovereign and what size is it?

I ask because i have a couple of meters that might be of use but they are fairly large - From memory i would think about 5" dia x maybe 4" deep surface mount type.

I can ofcourse give exact size and futher details if required.

The size sounds OK. What rating do the volts and amp gauges go up to. (Royal Sovereign is a Fowler 5hp Showmans conversion, number 18503).......PS, can you email me any photos of them to craigctt@aol.com Thanks

Craig , do not worry about the range on the dial of the ammeter , this can be adjusted by altering the shunt , whichis like an electrical by pass . Providing you have a known steady load , and a meter to check that , then the shunt can be sorted with a file or a hacksaw , because it is really just a copper bar across the terminals in the back of the meter , which carries all but a tiny bit of the load . The meter only measures the tiny fraction of the load which does not bypass through the shunt .. If it is too small , then you add a piece of copper , a bit of water pipe will do very nicely . The face of the dial can be recalibrated fairly easily .. There are people who repair and overhaul meters .

The volts are o - 175 Amps is 0 - 60

I presume your generating 110v so that sounds OK.

Don't suppose your'e going to Bedford this weekend?

As I guessed they are near as damn it 5" dia 3" deep; i'll take a photo and see if I can get them to you.

Taken with a phone so I hope they are clear enough.
