1000 Stationary Engine Rally.

This was a splendid rally last weekend at Astle Park, indeed, I can't remember when I enjoyed a rally as much. There was lots to see; engines big and small, weird and wonderful, it was well organised with a friendly atmosphere and it was good to receive an excellent brass plaque to celebrate the 25th time this rally has been held. Well done to the Five Counties Vintage Machinery Organisation for putting on such a great show. The site owner once again restricted the number of steam exhibits, but there were still some interesting engines present with perhaps the most unusual being the 1883 Wallis and Steevens traction "Mayrnagh". It was pleasing to see such a large contingent of Dutch enthusiasts present, one of the interesting engines they had brought along was a 1930 F.O. Beijers 25hp portable deisel engine with an unusual cross head arrangement. Hopefully pictures will follow.
