Portsmouth
Attended on Sunday, and all seemed a bit downbeat. Weather was bad Saturday and not much better Sunday, although the rain did stay away. Numbers down on previous years. The most exciting part of the event was the sea battle with radio controlled sailing ships. VERY noisy and entertaining. Just a few pictures covering 50% of the full size exhibits.

Excellent photos. Would have liked to have gone but it clashed with Breamore, we went a few years ago and it was brilliant.
Roughly how many engines were there? Thanks Jim |
11 full size on Sunday, but a couple were on the flyer that weren't there. A few little'uns as well. Nice plougher.

Some great photos, didn't see you to speak to on Sunday sorry about that. Did see you taking photos. Interesting to hear your views on the event, as I felt from my point of view it was not as good as years gone by. Didn't know that there were a couple of engines short either, do you know which ones? Cheers Dan |
I agree with Dan, that It did not feel as good as previous years. Maybe just the cold weather, which led to a lack of visitors. Not as many people seemed to come up and ask questions, a blessing in disguise really, but we do not mind.
Good to see Old Tim there, great angine and very friendly crew. I think The Dovey's wagon was meant to be there togther with the showmans The Lion, but neither turned up. It just needed a couple of more engine really. But the organisers have to look at the event and realise that the officious security and rather pedantic way they deal with the engine owners does not always endeer them and can put people off coming again with their engines. I quite like the event myself, but its not a normal rally style event and you have to get used to the way they have to run things and treat you. Douglas |
Wasn`t The lion at Carters last weekend.

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...agio1931-1.jpg You were deep in conversation on anothers engine when I came by to say hello and I didn't like to interupt. Douglas http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...ctoria18-1.jpg I thought the stewards (red flag carriers) looked disinterested. There just wasn't the atmosphere of past events. |
