Bifda wants a Tortoise stove, if anybody has one don't let him have it.
Can you cook tortoises on one?
Only very slowly.

And definitely don’t let bifda borrow your trailer to pick it up. It will come back with no ramps and a hole in the brand new bed.

Why would a tortoise need a stove in the first place, they hibernate in winter.
Obviously because if they wake up cold they suffer from Shell Shock...
Is a tortoise stove the equivalent to a slow cooker ?
How do you cook a tortoise? with or without the shell on? and what do you serve it with? mushy peas, steak cut chips and HP brown sauce, Yummy!!!!!

And was the hole in the bed of James’ trailer in the bottom, or the top? |

Only thing is he’s had to take it back to have a bit of warranty work done. |
Many many years ago I picked up a load of castings and pullies from Atterton & Ellis in Haverhill. They used to make mower grinding machines. All their castings were done by Tortoise Foundry. The pullies were made by Hunt,s at Earle's Colne.

Its a good thing its going on Ebay after you've painted it with zinc rich paint, you will gas the buyer rather than you and the kids.
I believe there is a product called stove paint. |
Cylinder oil and soot will also suffice.
He will gas himself inside his living van with that concoction as well.

Do Tortoise stoves have/need grates in them for burning coal? I guess if you’re just on wood the fire sits on a bed of hot ash.
No grate, put some small bits of kindling in the bottom of the stove, make sure its well alight, fill it up to the top with coal. The idea is to limit the amount of air getting to the coal through the sliding bottom door, I used to have about an 1/8" gap and the stove would stay alight for a couple of days. Hence Slow but sure.
