Traction Engine Water Bowser probably 2” Scale
A four wheeled water bowser for towing behind a traction engine. It has a horizontal cylindrical tank and a lever operated water pump to fill the tank from a nearby water source.
Design origin is uncertain, but could be based on a Fowler 350 gallon water cart shown in Model Engineer dated 5 September 1986, page 266. Chassis is made of wood, with a steerable front carriage with 4½” dia wheels, and the rear wheels are 6” dia, All the wheels are traction engine spoked style using aluminium rims. Water tank has lightly domed ends and is made of a non-magnetic material, presumed to be brass or copper, and has a capacity of about 4 litres. Tank is maroon in colour, wheels are mid green, and the timber chassis is dark stained.
