Ten Ton Advance cylinder

Looking for a ten Ton Wallis Advance cylinder.

I realise this is a long shot but it is to restore an original roller not for some other project.

Is your Block missing or is it beyond repair?

Dick Turpin 31st May 2012 08:25 PM

Missing, I have just purchased a ten ton Advance with no cylinder. Roller is all there up to and including the crank, then there is a bit of a gap until you reach the headstock!

Thanks for getting back to me! It was just that a friend of mine up here in Scotland owned an Advance roller with the block missing around twenty years ago & he sold it to a man in Edinburgh but i never herd anything about it again! I was wondering if it might be the same engine?

Pretty sure this is the same engine. We picked her up from just east of Edinburgh
She is now back in the county of her birth

Thats interesting! I allways wondered where that Roller went! My friend Freddie Forrest of Bonnybridge Bought it in Northern Ireland! He had 5or6 of them in his yard over the years at least 2 of them had been converted with petrol engines! I remember a story about one of them having a radiator from a vintage RollsRoyce car on it! Ile be speaking to him over the Weekend ile ask him what he can remember about the history of your roller!

7927, built 1927 and sent to Ireland, she's in the register.

Freddie Forrest was telling me this evening that when be bought that roller it had the engine & gearbox out of an Allis Chalmers model B tractor mounted on the back of it for driving it! It sounded like an interesting convertion!

She has got a few bits from differant engines on her, the rear rolls are diesel (three holes instead of five) and all the brake gear has come from another engine. But we will get her going eventually. I am sourcing parts at the moment but want to finsh rebuilding my 3 hp Marshall portable first.
