'Steam on the Road' Severn Valley Railway 13th & 14th August 2016

As some know I've been involved the SVR for many years. After organising many events I have finally started a traction engine gathering.

Steam on the Road is a new event which will hopefully over a couple of years grow into a good established rally.

More info to follow...

Anyone interested bringing an engine please PM me and I can give you the info.

Hopefully see some of you there.

Many thanks

Scott

Sounds like fun - dates in the diary!

How about a couple of ploughing fowlers at work next to the line around Sandy Lane between Bewdley & the Tunnel or maybe in the fields around Arley? Just a thought. I Hope the event is a success. I look forward to further details.

How long dose a service train take to cover the 16 miles?

Trevor 2 23rd January 2016 02:48 PM

Just over an hour, with stops.

Hmm.

I fancy my chances.

I hear where you're coming from Chris, it's good sport. We did it with the Advance up on the Talyllyn railway, No 3 and train were at the level crossing at Pendre and spur of the moment me and Black Jim thought we would make a run for it. They overtook us between Quarry Siding and Aber and just as we pulled up to Aber station they were disappearing off up to Nant Gwernol. We managed a quick hello to Charlie D before he set off with the down train, we didn't race him as we thought we might get reported to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Wallis Advances.

An hour to do 16 miles?

That's good going even by Fossy standards.

Trevor 2 24th January 2016 04:42 PM

That includes time for a pint at each station !
