I have hundreds more. If anyone wants a particular engine please ask, I will have it.

As always a completely full on week, loads new to see, and people to chat to. The rain at the start of the week did make life a bit difficult but it only really stopped movement in the main ring. Ploughing, showmans engines, threshing, woodsawing etc all carried on as normal.

Thanks to all involved, the volunteers who organise the event for weeks (months) in advance and those who prepare and bring engines. The cumulative man-hours to make the event happen must be colossal.

I have been home for less than 24 hrs and I wish I was back there.

Thanks.

It would be even better if a PH was in the playpen.

No. Mr Antell was in the sawing demo area though. Nice to see back out. I did see Mr Webb in the distance though.

Here you go. Cornishman moved down to it's usual spot by Dean's organ later in the week:

A not very distinguished picture of Garrett 33818, Lady Olivia. I'm sure I have some better ones but I can't find them at present.

And a picture of the new Rasdale family Garrett 33259 Invincible which was great to see and I'd forgot to include:

No, I think they had Philadelphia, John of Gaunt & the W&S but not Progress.

Somebody was taking to me about the engine during the week but I don't think I actually saw it.

A number of engines did made it as far as the low loader park but no further.

David

John was hoping to have all his engines in steam at Dorset (for the first time?) but I gather the paint on Progress only dried on Monday and given the conditions she was left at Hatch's.

John O Gaunt looked cracking!

Tim

jamiepreston 2nd September 2014 11:23 AM

Due to the weather conditions it was decided not to bring progress as the same was decided for the lion a wise move at the time the decision was made.

10 ton 12081 2nd September 2014 11:33 AM

Was lord fisher there this year has been on the baler for the last few years

Ransomes AM54 2nd September 2014 11:56 AM

Lord Fisher was threshing. Spent a lot of time with it this year. Lovely engine.

Berrybrook Steam 2nd September 2014 12:52 PM

Thanks for those David. As you say a great show as usual and the weather did not seem to deter many people.

Good to meet you and have a chat on Thursday evening.

Hi David, can I just say your photos are truly fantastic, I wish I had the time and patience you have. Just a quick question I see from your location that it now says Cornwall does that mean you have now moved to the land of engines, sun and sea along with great people. Once again thanks for sharing your great photos. Regards Chris.

Steam Scenes 2nd September 2014 08:20 PM

Some more in response to requests.

Don't think Kitchener ventured into the playpen this year so I only got this one very average picture of her this year:

Hi Chris, yes moved down to Cornwall in July, not far from you. My events in the future will have more of a South Western bias I think!

And another pic of Pride of the Wight that I found:

Progress was in steam awaiting the low loader when the decision was made by the owners that due to the conditions on the site it would not be going to Dorset. I am now led to believe that Progress will be at Bedford.

Welding the holes is the easy bit, the rust is a tad more difficult.

I'm not sure that a decision has been made. As far as I am aware enquiries were going to be made this week as to whether it could go there. Failing that its first public outing may be Hungerford Victorian Night on Friday 12th December.
