GDSF Diary 2012 - Monday
Rather than spoiling everyone else's Dorset threads I thought I'd start a new one showing our week.
All the photos are here on facebook too https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...3&l=7ba6e165d3 but we start on Monday at a very wet Honiton Hill! http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0173.jpg But miraculously, by the time we arrived at Dorset the rain had cleared at the site was dry (until just after we finished unloading!) http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0174.jpg |
Tuesday
Tuesday dawned to bright sunshine and some West Country arrivals:
http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0175.jpg But the ground was saturated... http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0176.jpg That didn't stop the new arrivals! http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0177.jpg http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0178.jpg http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0179.jpg http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0181.jpg Including the Sedon and Black products by steam! http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0182.jpg Everything was looking good for the show to start http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0180.jpg |
Wednesday
Then the rains came!
http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0183.jpg So it was a morning spent in the tents... http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0184.jpg http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0185.jpg http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0186.jpg And generally sheltering! http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0187.jpg We tried to do some sawing http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0188.jpg But there was mud everywhere! http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0189.jpg At least we still had the evening entertainment http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0190.jpg http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0191.jpg |
Thursday
Thursday was a far brighter day
http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0192.jpg And saw some new arrivals taking to the play pen by the afternoon http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0193.jpg http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0194.jpg And even some haulage by the evening! http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0195.jpg http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0196.jpg http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0197.jpg |
Friday
There was still a fair bit of mud around on the Friday
http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0198.jpg But the show had it's buzz back! http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0199.jpg http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0200.jpg http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0201.jpg http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0202.jpg But by this time the camera had succombed to the elements and I had to make a wedding on the weekend.... http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0203.jpg http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0204.jpg |
Thanks Steve for sharing your photos with us. Sunny South Devon did not live up to its name over the weekend and I am sure North Devon was the same.
Looking on the bright side, roll on the 2013 Rally Season, it can't be any worse than 2012 !!! |
I don't know about that Tom, we couldn't have asked for a better day in Kingsbridge on Saturday for the wedding :) but it has been a terrible summer... as you say, bring on 2013!

Great pics. Good to see pictures of before the show, arriving and setting up. I arrived friday afternoon so missed all of the mud.
